Located in Bexar County, Alamo Heights is an incorporated city (since 1922) enclosed by the city of San Antonio, Texas. The climate in Alamo Heights is relatively warm year-round. Winters are mild (avg. 60), summers are hot (low 100's) and the city receives about 32.9 inches of rain annually.
Alamo Heights is located about five miles north of downtown San Antonio and about 3 miles south of the San Antonio International Airport. It is also bordered by the neighborhoods of Lincoln Heights, Olmos Park, Terrell Heights, Bel Meade, Terrell Hills, Northwood & Mahncke Park. Ft. Sam Houston is also located nearby.
Alamo Heights is served by the Alamo Heights Independent School District which is headquartered within city limits. AHISD offers some of the best public schools in San Antonio. There is one kindergarten, two elementary schools, one junior high school and one high school all within the Alamo Heights city limits. There are also several private schools available. The University of the Incarnate Word is located in Alamo Heights and Trinity University is located minutes from there.
Nearby attractions include the Alamo Quarry Market, North Star Mall, the downtown River walk, the Alamo, The San Antonio Zoo, the Japanese Tea Gardens, the McNay Art Museum, The Witte Museum, the San Antonio Museum of Art, The Pearl, the SA Botanical Gardens & Brackenridge Park.
Alamo Heights also provides for clubs and recreation facilities such as Rotary Club, Little League, Optimist Club, Soccer Club and Alamo Heights Pool Sharks.
